Fall Release

INTRODUCING OUR FALL 2023 VARIETAL & LABEL

IGLOO

2020 Cuvée Blanc – Napa Valley

When a hockey team was awarded to Pittsburgh in 1967, it was somewhat fitting that the building they would play in resembled an Igloo. And while there was a fan vote to name the team, the suggestion of original owner Jack McGregor’s wife won out, and the Pittsburgh Penguins were born. So once the team’s nickname was officially the Penguins, well that’s when the nickname of the Civic Arena officially became the Igloo.

We introduce you to IGLOO. This elegant white wine blend is alluring and complex, with a sensuous offering of tropical fruits, white flowers and subtle spice. The nose is like a bouquet of flowers and jumps from the glass with ripe lemon, white peach and orange blossom followed by notes of toast and white pepper. On the tongue, lemon bursts forward with pineapple and other tropical fruit, with undertones of vanilla. The finish is bright and zingy and mellows with vanilla and subtle spices in its length.

INTRODUCING OUR SPRING 2023 VARIETALS & LABELS

LOTTERY BALL

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley

After a lockout canceled the 2004-05 NHL Season, each team had a chance to win the first overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft Lottery. High stakes, because a certain, once in a generation prodigy, was the undisputed top prospect in that year’s draft. The winning team would quite literally win the lottery. Certain the team wouldn’t win; Penguins owner Mario Lemieux was at a doctor’s appointment with his daughter when the ping pong ball bounced the Penguins way and they were awarded the first pick in the NHL Draft. After years of mediocrity, the future in Pittsburgh was bright and once Lemieux emerged from the doctor’s office, he knew that it was once again A Great Day for Hockey in Pittsburgh.

We introduce you to LOTTERY BALL. Our flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic representation of the appellation’s preeminent varietal. Notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum are complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish.

THE SCHOOL YARD

2020 Pinot Noir – Santa Barbara County

I’ll meet you in the school yard, baby, for all the marbles! A sentence authored by Mike Lange seconds after the Penguins won Game 6 and forced a Game 7 in the 2009 Stanley Cup Final. The Penguins went on to win Game 7 and at the Championship Parade, Mike Lange took the stage, held up his hand, showed the crowd a bag and proudly proclaimed, “I got the marbles!”

Our Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County experiences a lengthy and cool growing season that is similar to the climate of the Burgundy region of east-central France. Unlike Burgundy, our Pinot Noir experiences dense fog that rolls in off the Pacific Ocean; this fog contributes to the ideal climate for Pinot Noir, offering just enough moisture to be beneficial without lingering too long.

We introduce you to THE SCHOOL YARD. This Pinot Noir has aromas of cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and brown sugar with notes of baking spices. On the palate, the wine opens with bright, fruit flavors of strawberries, leading to a round mouthfeel on the mid-palate and soft, velvety tannins on a long, elegant finish.
